Mike Fleming's Union Pacific, Sherman Hill Division

3211 Lemons Ridge Dr.
Atlanta, GA 30339
See map: Google Maps

Mike's HO scale railroad is based on the Sherman Hill Division, the most active division of the Union Pacific in the 1950s with a variety of steam engines, diesels and turbines.

The top level represents the long grade out of Cheyenne to the crest at Sherman station continuing to Hermosa Tunnel. A third line was added in 1953 with a lesser grade and is called the Harriman line.  It joins the two mainline tracks at Dale Junction.

The lower level represents a generic mid Nebraska town called Tecumsah. There is an agricultural industry area and a smaller town further west.

Scenery is about 80% completed on the layout. The outer room holds the staging tracks for Sherman above and Laramie below.

Al Churella's Sandy River & Ranglely Lakes On2 Layout

Head back in time to Franklin County, Maine, in the summer of 1919. The two-foot gauge Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes is at its busiest, hauling logs and pulpwood from the forests to the mills. There's plenty of passenger traffic, too, as summer visitors anxious to escape the heat head for the resorts and cabins of the Maine lakes.  All of this is captured on a large layout that fills most of an 1,800-square-foot basement.  This is true On2, not On30, and the layout is designed to be as accurate a portrayal as possible of the prototype, with everything from tracks to buildings located precisely to scale.  There are plenty of scratchbuilt structures and cars to round out the mix.
